ITHACA, N.Y.—The College Avenue reconstruction project to install new stormwater facilities, curbs, wider sidewalks, new crosswalks, street lighting, bus and delivery pull-offs, short-term parking and trees began June 27, 2022.

The project, which spans College Ave from Mitchell Street to Dryden Road, will close the street to thru-traffic so Seneca Stone Corporation, the City of Ithaca’s contractor, and New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG) can complete related underground electric installation. Pedestrian and emergency access will be maintained, though anyone in the area should remain alert throughout the construction area.

Detours will be posted, and all vehicles should follow the signs to use Eddy Street westbound. Southbound traffic should go right on Dryden Road, left on Eddy Street and left again onto East State Street.

Traffic heading up East State Street should turn left on Eddy Street, then right on Dryden Road to College Age.

Traffic coming down Mitchell Street should continue onto East State Street, then right on Eddy Street and right on Dryden Road to College Ave.

There will be no parking on College Ave, and access to driveways will be maintained.

The project has a planned completion date of Nov. 2022.
