ITHACA, N.Y.—Cornell University senior Yianni Diakomihalis and alum Kyle Dake will be representing the United States at the wrestling World Championships this fall in Serbia after winning best two out of three matches at the Beat the Streets Final X competition in New York City on June 8.

Diakomihalis, a three-time NCAA champion at 65kg, has made Team USA for the second time after defeating his opponent 11 to 9 in the first round and 14 to 4 with a technical fall in the second round.

Dake, 2020 Olympic bronze medalist and four-time NCAA champion, has won gold at Worlds in 2018, 2019 and 2021, and will be attending for the fourth time. Dake defeated his Final X opponent 4 to 2 in the first round and 2 to 1 in the second. Dake graduated from Cornell in 2013.

Junior Vito Arujau, 57kg, and assistant coach Nick Gwiazdowski, 125kg, also competed for respective spots on Team USA. Though they wrestled tough matches, both ultimately fell short of earning spots on the worlds team this year.
