ITHACA, N.Y.—Just as the summer kicks off, a local favorite event has been canceled for the third year in a row. The Ithaca Rotary Community Fireworks draws in thousands of people each year, but has not been held since prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Upon the events’ cancellation, the Rotary released a statement that said, “The Rotary Community Fireworks regretfully announces that the celebration will be postponed until 2023. As disappointing as this news is, it is the prudent thing to do. Despite the progress being made on the vaccination front and restrictions being eased, there are still many obstacles and uncertainties with regards to staging an event of this magnitude.”

However, there are still plenty of activities and events for locals to enjoy over the holiday weekend.
