ITHACA, N.Y.—Ithaca College and Cornell University have both announced procedures and policies for the Fall 2022 semester, which begins in just under a month.
Both schools will require both new and transfer students to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the time of arrival on campus, and all students will also need to provide a negative test before returning to the campuses, though the regular surveillance testing program at Ithaca College has been discontinued. The additional regular testing requirement for unvaccinated students was discontinued in June 2022.
Ithaca College is accepting both PCR and home antigen tests, and negative PCR tests must be completed within 72 hours of arrival on campus. Antigen home tests must be completed within 24 hours of arrival on campus.
Ithaca College residential students must provide proof of negative test results before check-in can be completed, and off-campus students can email their test results to caremanager@ithaca.edu. Testing, quarantine and isolation facilities have all been moved to Boothroyd Hall.
“As we continue to plan and reinforce policies as they relate to COVID-19, we are also closely monitoring the worldwide spread of Monkeypox,” said a July 27 email from Samm Swarts, assistant director of emergency preparedness and response, to the Ithaca College campus community. “Tompkins County and other surrounding counties have all reported their first cases in recent days. Policies and procedures are currently being developed and will be shared with the campus community when available.”
Cornell University is requiring proof of a primary vaccination series for the campus community and urges everyone to receive boosters that become available to them. The full letter to the campus community can be found here.
