ITHACA, N.Y.—Officer responded to a reported burglary in progress of an occupied residence on the 600 block of West Court Street at approximately midnight on July 21.

On the scene, officers identified the suspect as 37-year-old Timothy Shay of Ithaca, who the victim had detained in the driveway of the residence.

The victim reported that he had found his bathroom door locked, and after opening it, had been confronted by Shay before the two got into a brief physical encounter in which neither were injured.

Shay was arrested and charged with burglary in the second degree and arraigned before Ithaca City Court Judge Rick Wallace. Shay was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail on $5,000 cash or $10,000 credit bail.
