TRUMANSBURG, N.Y.—Three people were brought back to shore uninjured Wednesday evening after a reported sailboating accident around 7 p.m.

Three fire departments responded to the incident, which started with a report of a sailboat in distress in the middle of Cayuga Lake, according to Ithaca Fire Department spokesperson Jim Wheal.

Wheal said that local boaters were actually able to tow the boat to shore, though there were no injuries reported. Ithaca Fire sent a boat from Treman Marina to retrieve the victims, while Lansing Fire and Trumansburg Fire both responded as well.

Details of how the boat capsized initially were not immediately made available.

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and the Trumansburg Ambulance also responded in a precautionary capacity.
