ITHACA, N.Y.—The Green Street Garage is reopening on Sept. 6 with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony, hosted by the City of Ithaca and the Downtown Ithaca Alliance.
Acting Mayor Laura Lewis said that “As we continue to see the public returning to downtown restaurants, movies and Cinemapolis, and shopping, we are so excited to celebrate the opening of the Green Street Garage where there are 268 parking spaces available for the public.”
Construction will continue nearby, but six of the seven floors in the garage will be open for public use. When the whole garage is completed, 334 total spaces will be available in the rebuilt portion of the garage.
“We are so pleased to reopen the center section of the Green Street Parking Garage,” said Eric Hathaway, director of parking and transportation for the City of Ithaca. “We are excited to have added some new features, such as an occupancy display system, as well as improved, energy efficient lighting.”
The public is welcome to begin using the parking garage beginning Sept. 6, and monthly parking passes are available through the City Chamberlain’s Office beginning Sept. 13.
