ITHACA, N.Y.—Police are searching for a pair of suspects after a beating and robbery on West State Street Wednesday afternoon.

According to Ithaca Police Department Sgt. Mary Orsaio, police responded to the 300 block of West State Street, where one victim told them that they had been attacked and robbed by two people.

The victim claimed that they had been punched repeatedly from behind, knocking him to the ground and then went through his pockets, stealing cash and a cell phone charger.

The suspects then fled, and the victim was treated for non-life threatening facial injuries and was evaluated by members of Bangs Ambulance.

Police said they are looking for two suspects, one of whom is a Black man wearing a red sweatshirt and light blue jeans, while the second is a Black man who was wearing all gray.

Orsaio directed all further questions to Acting Police Chief John Joly. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Ithaca Police Department and can remain anonymous.
