ITHACA, N.Y.—An Ithaca man has been sentenced to 320 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to sexual exploitation a child, according to federal prosecutors.
32-year-old Remanu Phillips, of Ithaca, received the sentence after a winding road of prosecution. He was initially arrested in October 2019 on local charges related to the same case and was sentenced to six months in prison.
Then in 2021, videos of Phillips’ actions were found on a work computer, and he was hit with federal charges subsequently. Phillips pleaded guilty to the charges in June 2022.
In addition to the incarceration, Phillips faces a 30-year term of supervised release after his jailtime is over and must register as a sex offender.
