ITHACA, N.Y.—The Ithaca Police Department is searching for a suspect in an early-morning shooting incident that took place on Saturday, Feb. 4.

The circumstances are a bit unclear, but Lt. David Amaro wrote that police responded to Cayuga Medical Center around 3 p.m. on Saturday after a patient was reported to have sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

According to Amaro, the shooting actually occurred several hours prior, around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, in an apartment in the Cayuga Garden Apartments in the 100 block of Chestnut Street. Any other details were not made available.

Amaro said the suspect is a Black male who was wearing dark clothing at the time of the shooting, is about 5’8″ and weighs about 140 lbs. Police are asking any witnesses of the incident to contact them and can remain anonymous.
