GROTON, N.Y.—Federal prosecutors announced that a Groton man has been sentenced to 84 months in prison for receiving and distributing child pornography.
Timothy Buckley, 55, had pleaded guilty to the charges after he was found to have received and distributed child pornography via a chatroom on the Kik messaging app, according to a federal criminal complaint. Buckley used his work phone to message on the app.
Buckley admitted to two instances of exchanging child pornography, receiving materials in January 2021 and sending images in August 2021 to an undercover law enforcement officer.
U.S. District Judge David Hurd additionally sentenced Buckley to 15 years of supervised release after his incarceration, and Buckley will be required to register as a sex offender.
