ITHACA, N.Y.—A motorcycle crash that occurred Tuesday night in Ithaca sent one person to the hospital.

Ithaca Fire Department spokesperson Jim Wheal said that firefighters responded to the scene, at Route 13 southbound near Stewart Park, along with Bangs Ambulance and several law enforcement agencies.

Wheal said the fire department responded with two engines and subsequently established a landing zone for a helicopter at nearby Ithaca High School. EMS care was administered by workers on scene as well.

“One individual was transported to a trauma center,” Wheal said.

He added that he was unsure of the cause of the crash or if other vehicles were involved, though it sounds like the person who was airlifted was the extent of the serious injuries from the incident.

Requests for more information to the Ithaca Police Department and Bangs Ambulance have not yet been returned. When information is available about the person’s condition, this story will be updated.
