ITHACA, N.Y.—The South Albany Street Bridge will close for replacement starting Monday, May 15 in a project slated to take until Dec. 31, 2023 as currently scheduled.

According to the City of Ithaca’s announcement, the project will replace the existing bridge with a “new 85-foot, single-span structure” with two 13-foot shared lanes accommodating vehicles and bicycles and new sidewalks on both sides.

During the closure, traffic will be detoured to Wood Street, South Plain Street and West Clinton Streets, according to the city.
