ITHACA, N.Y.—An emergency water main leak repair on East State Street Thursday and Friday could impact some residences in parts of downtown Ithaca.

The city announced that it must repair a leak in the 500 block of East State Street, around Schuyler Place and the intersection of Quarry Road and State Street. The project is scheduled to end by 7 a.m. on May 26.

There’s already a traffic detour in place thanks to existing paving work, so traffic isn’t expected to be impacted beyond what is already in place. However, there could be some issues with water service in the area.

“At around 7 p.m. this evening, water service outages in the 400 and 500 block of State Street, all of Schuyler Place, 140 Seneca Way and the Boiler Works Apartments will occur and will last until roughly 3 a.m.,” the city announced Thursday morning. “The entire flats area of the city may experience pressure fluctuations or cloudy or turbid water during this time as well.”

This story will be updated if any other water issues are reported.
