The Cayuga Medical Associates building on Brentwood Drive

(Update, June 23): The Cayuga Health facility on Brentwood Drive has reopened and patients are being seen today.

“Cayuga Orthopedics and CMA Occupational Medicine will return to regular appointment hours in their usual locations on Friday, June 23,” read the medical provider’s statement. “Imaging services at 16 Brentwood are anticipated to resume in the coming days and an alternative plan is in place to care for patients needing imaging services.”

Original story (June 22):

ITHACA, N.Y.—Cayuga Health Systems (CHS) announced today that its building on Brentwood Drive in Ithaca, which houses several specialized medical service operations, is closed for the time being after a small fire Wednesday night.

In a brief press release, CHS stated that a fire was detected in a bathroom at the building around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. Firefighters responded and extinguished the fire after the sprinkler system had activated.

The press release states that nobody was injured and there was minimal damage.

However, as a result of the incident, Cayuga Health has closed the building temporarily while “our teams and clean-up experts [are] on-site to remedy the situation to bring the building back online as soon as possible.” Cayuga Orthopedics, Imaging Services and Occupational Medicine are all housed at the site.

The building houses Cayuga Orthopedics, Imaging Services and Occupational Medicine. The building is currently closed, and we have our teams and clean-up experts on-site to remedy the situation to bring the building back online as soon as possible.

Patients are being contacted for new appointment locations or rescheduling.
