An overview of the Tompkins County Recycling and Materials Management Department’s Draft Local Solid Waste Management Plan (LSWMP), Rethinking Waste in Tompkins County: Fostering a Local Circular Economy, will be presented during a public meeting at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 11, 2023, in the BorgWarner Room at the Tompkins County Public Library (TCPL), 101 E. Green Street, Ithaca, at which time feedback will be heard.

Rethinking Waste in Tompkins County identifies the plan for the county to strive for sustainable materials management during a ten-year planning period, from 2023 through 2032. It is intended to serve as a countywide framework for the coordination of materials management in an economical and environmentally sound manner consistent with the State’s solid waste management policy.

The plan is available for review on the recycletompkins.org website, and a physical copy is available for review at TCPL.

In accordance with the revised Part 360 Solid Waste Regulations as promulgated by the State of New York Department of Environmental Conservation, the public has forty-five (45) days after the release of the LSWMP to review and submit written comment.
