ITHACA, N.Y.—The Ithaca Police Department is searching for five suspects they allege were involved in an early morning stabbing that left one person in critical condition Monday.

According to Sgt. Michael Meskill, police responded to a stabbing in the area of Cecil Malone Drive around 2:15 a.m. Monday morning. They found an unconscious victim who had been stabbed in the leg, applied life-saving measures and called an emergency medical team, according to Meskill’s press release. The victim was taken to a hospital where Meskill said they are being held in stable but critical condition.

Circumstances of the crime were not released, but police said suspects include a Hispanic man, a white man with tattoos and a beard, two Black men who wore facemasks (one described as having lighter skin and dreadlocks) and a Black woman (described as heavy-set).

Police were helped by the Tompkins County Sheriff’s office, the Ithaca Fire Department and Bangs Ambulance. Police are asking for the public to contact them with any additional information.
