ITHACA, N.Y.—The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 3 a.m. Friday, July 21.

The alert includes several counties in central New York and central Pennsylvania, with Tompkins County near the center. The NWS radar shows significant rainstorms moving into the area around 10 p.m. as the projections show.

The Binghamton office stated that flash flooding and squalls of damaging winds with isolated tornadoes are possible during the night.

The storm center further predicts that hail could come along with the intense winds.
