ITHACA, N.Y.—New York State Police are investigating a crash that occurred Thursday evening involving a car and two motorcycles that claimed the life of one of the motorcyclists.

The crash occurred on Millard Hill Road in Newfield around 9 p.m. Thursday. According to a press release from the state police, two motorcycles were traveling west on the road while a Subaru Forester was traveling east. Police said that one of the motorcyclists crossed into the opposite lane about a mile east of Short Lane and crashed into the Forester before colliding with the other motorcycle.

The first motorcyclist died after Newfield Fire Company and Bangs Ambulance workers attempted life-saving measures. He was identified as Wesley Demming, 26, of Newfield.

Both other drivers were taken to hospitals for their injuries. The 19-year-old driver of the Forester, a Newfield resident, was taken to Cayuga Medical Center for head injuries, and the other motorcyclist, a 30-year-old man also from Newfield, was airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital. Conditions of the victims was not immediately disclosed.
