ITHACA, N.Y. — The New York State Department of Transportation has announced an information session on resurfacing and safety enhancement projects within the city of Ithaca to show preliminary plans and field feedback and questions.

The session will be held April 3 from 5-7 p.m. in room K128 at Ithaca High School. It will largely focus on highway improvements on State Routes 13/34/96, including resurfacing and safety work.

State officials will not be formally presenting the plans at the open house-style event, according to the announcement, but the plans deal with a resurfacing project. It is slated to begin in spring 2025, starting with the resurfacing of three miles of State Route 13 from Elmira Road and stretching north along State Routes 13, 34 and 96 to the Ithaca city line.

The state’s announcement says there will also be resurfacing work on the Meadow Street/Fulton Street corridors and parts of Buffalo, Seneca and Green Streets. Traffic signals, pavement markings and drainage systems will also be upgraded, according to the state, though further details were not provided.

Sidewalks and ramps in the area will also be updated to come into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Below are some of the roads that will be resurfaced in the Fulton/Meadow Street corridor.

The following is from the state’s announcement:

Ithaca High School room K128 is accessible to people with disabilities.
