The 2024 Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival April 1-14

The Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival (FLEFF) will take place once again this spring. The festival will extend from April 1st through April 14th and feature events at Ithaca College and at Cinemapolis, as well as virtual events held on zoom.

While the festival is focused on environmental justice, FLEFF is a celebration of the art of film, and festival programming explores how questions related to the environment are intertwined in complex ways with many other issues. As it has in the past, FLEFF will feature international and local films as well as events that incorporate music and literature.

The theme of this year’s festival is Turbulence. As fellow festival co-director Andrew Utterson explained, “Each year’s edition of the festival uses a special theme as a lens for thinking through the screenings and other events and the issues they raise and ideas they explore. The theme of ‘turbulence’ works on so many levels, describing environmental phenomena as well as more metaphorical ways of thinking about the urgent crises and challenges of our turbulent times.”

FLEFF will feature approximately thirty events in total. Community members can purchase tickets to individual events; they can purchase a five-event pass, or an all-access festival pass.
