Ithaca, N.Y. — A snowstorm is expected to disrupt Thanksgiving travel in Ithaca and throughout much of the Northeast on Wednesday. Two flights locally had been canceled before noon.

Experts are advising motorists in the CNY/Southern Tier area to leave as soon as possible. Reports Syracuse.com’s Julie McMahon:
“Some advice for those who will be hitting the roads or boarding planes during what meteorologists are calling a “Thanksgiving travel nightmare,” for the Northeast: Head out now.
Meteorologists are predicting heavy snow and winds throughout New York Wednesday.

Two flights have been canceled at the Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport.

In New York, officials have cautioned travelers, especially those heading to and from New York City and Albany.
As heavy snow begins falling Wednesday morning, and the storm is expected to move south to north, officials have advised travelers to get on the road now to avoid hazardous weather and delays.
