LANSING, N.Y. — Recovery efforts are planned to continue Sunday for a man who drowned in Cayuga Lake Saturday afternoon, an official said.
Emergency crews were called to Meyers Point just after 3:30 p.m. Saturday when a boater called 911 after losing site of a man who was swimming in the lake, police said.
Firefighters and emergency rescue crews from throughout Tompkins County made rescue efforts in boats for hours trying to find the man just north of Myers Point, focusing the search along the eastern shore. The water depth is about four-to-40-feet deep in that area.

The New York State Police Dive Team arrived at the scene around 6 p.m.
Lansing Fire Chief Scott Purcell said the divers searched for the man until about 3 a.m. Divers plan to resume the search Sunday after a series of thunderstorms move through the area.
Purcell confirmed that the operation is no longer a rescue but a recovery instead. The family, he said, has been notified and is in touch with officials.
The man’s identity is not being released at this time.
