ITHACA, NY — The first hint of snow touched Ithaca and Tompkins County early Thursday morning as residents woke up to a light dusting left from an overnight storm.
While precipitation is expected to continue throughout the weekend, the Finger Lakes Weather service says heavy accumulation of snow is not to be expected quite yet. Higher elevations are expected to attract some snow, but Finger Lakes Weather reports say “grassy surfaces and cars are likely to see any accumulations, but the roads will remain wet and unaffected.”

The snow, which made an early appearance, has almost been entirely melted by rain following throughout the day, which the National Weather Service expects to continue through Sunday evening. Temperatures are expected to vary between highs in the low 50s and low reaching mid 30s for the rest of the week.
