ITHACA, N.Y. — The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Tompkins County, according to a briefing released by NWS – Binghamton Saturday afternoon.

According to the briefing, the storm will last late tonight through Monday, with 4-6″ of snow expected in Ithaca.

The briefing describes the storm as a “complicated multi-phase event,” and outlines the forecast as the following:

“• A wintry mix will develop late Tonight into Sunday
• Much of the area will have rain-sleet mix early Sunday
• Precipitation changes to an accumulating snow Sunday afternoon and lasts through Monday; heavy for some.
• Winds will become very gusty Monday with power outages possible.”

The storm could cause hazardous road conditions and scattered power outages.
