ITHACA, N.Y. — Following a fatal fire Monday night, Ithaca police have identified the victim as 81-year-old Sondra L. Hull, who was a longtime Ithaca resident.

The fire was called in at about 9:25 p.m. Monday at 409 E. Buffalo St. in Ithaca. It took several hours and about 35 firefighters to extinguish the fire. On Wednesday, the Ithaca Police Department identified the victim of the fire as longtime resident and retired nurse Sondra Hull. The fire still remains under investigation, but police said “there is no foul play suspected at this time.” Hull was the only victim of the fire.

The old home was built in 1845, according to information on Historic Ithaca. From the outside, the home is still standing but inside sustained “significant damage,” Assistant Chief Brian Weinstein said Tuesday.

The fire is being investigated by the Ithaca Police Department, the Ithaca Fire Department and the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control.
