ITHACA, N.Y. –– An attempted armed robbery in the Seneca Street garage was derailed Sunday evening when the victim began yelling for help, causing the suspect to flee the scene.

According to a release from the Ithaca Police Department, at around 7:50 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9, an individual wearing dark clothing approached a victim brandishing a knife and attempted to rob them, saying “give me what you got.”

The victim began yelling for help, and the suspect left the area without further incident.

The victim has declined further cooperation with law enforcement.

“We are taking this opportunity to remind everyone to be aware of your surroundings and to call the police for help if needed,” IPD Sgt. Kevin Slattery in the release.
