ITHACA, N.Y. –– Habitat for Humanity of Tompkins and Cortland Counties (TCHFH) is taking home construction online for the first time with a virtual Gingerbread House Build on Dec. 5, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Kits for participants include everything needed to build a festive holiday house, including house-shaped gingerbread cookie components, sweet decorations, and royal icing.

Hosted by DJ Washburn of Washburn Entertainment, the event will include music, trivia, decorating tips, and guest appearances from local “celebrities”. Those with a competitive spirit can also participate in five categories of gingerbread house judging. Are you the Most Over-Decorated, or more of a Most Crooked House builder?

Habitat’s event is designed to appeal to all ages. Kits provide everything you need for a night of family fun, building a gingerbread house together and making some frosting-filled memories. For the adult crowd, upgraded Gingerbread kits include wine that pairs well with gingerbread, perfect for a holiday date night!

Major sponsors for the Gingerbread Build include Kevin Shreve of Financial Designs and Wealth Strategies, Dave Astorina of Green Home Heroes, and Bethany Huey, Realtor at Warren Real Estate. Proceeds from this event go towards construction of real homes in our community, in keeping with Habitat’s mission to ensure that everyone has access to a safe, decent, and affordable place to live.

Kits for the event are limited, so be sure to register and reserve yours today at https://tchabitat.com/events/virtual- gingerbread-house-build/. Participants will receive additional event information after registration, including details to pick up your kit locally, in Ithaca. Anyone interested may also call (607) 844-3529 or email shannon@tchabitat.com with questions.
