Update: Both the driver and the deputy were medically assessed and treated at the scene and released, according to Undersheriff Jennifer Olin.

TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y.—One woman, from Cortland, was arrested last night after her car left the roadway and struck a Tompkins County Sheriffs Office car around 10:20 p.m.

A marked police vehicle was parked on Route 13 in the Town of Ithaca at the bottom of a hill, north of East Shore Drive overpass.

“A 2021 Jeep Renegade traveling north bound failed to maintain their lane and left the roadway and into the asphalt/gravel median alongside the guardrail,” states a police narrative released by Sheriff Derek Osborne. “The Jeep Renegade then collided/rear-ended the marked police cruiser approximately 30 feet off the roadway.”

Subsequently, an investigation was started, and the driver of the Jeep Renegade was arrested. Meagan Condie, 22, of Cortland, was charged with Moving from Lane Unsafely, Driving While Intoxicated, Driving while Intoxicated with a BAC of .08 percent or greater and Driving while Intoxicated with a BAC of .18 percent or greater. All of those charges are either traffic violations or misdemeanors.
