TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y.—Tompkins County voters have a chance to change the face of their municipal governments this year, as primaries approach in mere days and a pivotal general election looms in November for Ithaca, Lansing, Dryden, Danby, Caroline and more.

Somewhat less significantly, though, they must also choose the sticker they receive to signify that they did indeed vote, a badge representing participation in the age-old conventions of democracy.

Names of the designers are being withheld until a winner is determined, though the county limited submissions to local students between grades 9-12 in an effort to engage new, young voters. Voter participation in local elections, particularly in years without national offices drawing voters to the polls, is traditionally fairly low.

Those interested can vote here for their favorite choice.

Of the 131 responses that the Board of Elections has received so far, options 7, 6, and 5 are currently in the lead, though there are months left before the results will be final.
