TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y.—The Village of Groton Police Department responded to a reported domestic dispute with a firearm at approximately 6:50 p.m. on April 21 on Barrows Street.

As officers arrived on the scene, the suspect fled on foot into a wooded area behind the residence, and officers were told that the suspect possessed a handgun that had been pointed at two of the individuals inside the residence during the dispute.

Officers located the suspect near the residence and identified him as 41-year-old Robert S. Bailey of Groton. Bailey was taken into custody with assistance from the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, menacing in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child.

Bailey was processed and taken to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s office where he is awaiting arraignment.
