ITHACA, N.Y. — City of Ithaca construction crews are working to repair a water main break at the intersection of North Cayuga Street and East Jay Street.

The work is expected to last throughout the day on Wednesday and into the afternoon.

The city’s announcement states that traffic around the area will be directed around the work zone by workers stationed near the work.

Because the work is being done on a water main, water service may be disrupted or spotty while work is being conducted. The system will flush once the repairs are done, so city officials are telling residents in the area to run cold water (not hot) if they encounter brown or rust-colored water until the water clears.
